State Reader Briefing Book iPad App (March 2013 – September 2015)

  • Product Manager and mobile development lead for State Department’s first custom enterprise mobile app for iPad
  • State Reader app is used by senior principals on a daily basis to receive and review briefing materials including day books, trip material, and other content
  • A web-based content management system is used by State Dept. staff to manage content on principal’s iPads remotely; All content is delivered wirelessly over a secure VPN connection
  • The app allows principals to take notes, make annotations, and bookmark content with all data being archived on enterprise servers to meet archival requirements
  • Sensitive data is encrypted in transit and at rest to comply with federal security requirements

Israel/Palestine Border Proposal iPad App (June 2014 – September 2014)

  • Mobile development lead for an enterprise iPad app developed in collaboration with State Department’s Office of the Geographer
  • The app allows users to view maps and data displays of several geographic areas related to the Israel/Palestine conflict including all border settlements proposed over the past decade
  • The app is designed to be used by principals and analysts before and during negotiations with foreign parties
  • Users are able to navigate multiple data layers, make annotations on the map, and share their annotations with other users
  • The app uses CoreImage extensively to load and overlay high resolution map files and to enable map annotations using a realistic on-screen drawing function

Department of State, ForeignAssistance.gov, Foreign Assistance Transparency Website (May 2010 – Apr. 2012)

  • Technical Architect for the ForeignAssistance.gov open government website and database backend built in ASP.NET (C#) and MS SQL Server 2008
  • Collaborated with high-level stakeholders from Dept. of State and USAID to define technical requirements, design, and prototype an information visualization architecture for ForeignAssistance.gov
  • Developed mobile-accessible version of the ForeignAssistance.gov site for viewing on mobile platforms including iPhone, iPad, and Android
  • Implemented an automated data migration process to perform regular transfers of foreign assistance data from State’s data warehouse to ForeignAssistance.gov

Columbus Technologies and Services, Government Cost Accounting Reporting System (Jul. 2011 – Apr. 2012)

  • Led the development of a enterprise reporting system that assisted Columbus in meeting its government cost accounting reporting requirements for its NASA contracts
  • Automated the process for generating contractor cost estimates by developing a spreadsheet style web interface using jQuery, HTML, that provided immediate feedback to users on future cost projects as they developed their estimates
  • Developed customized user interfaces to enable mobile device access to the reporting system using HTML 5 and the jQuery Mobile toolkit.
  • Fully automated the process of generating monthly NASA budget to actual reports in order to calculate contract accruals; reduced the reporting cycle from approximately 10 days to 2 days

U.S. Secret Service (USSS), Criminal Investigations Division (CID), Investigations Support Operational Dashboard (Nov. 2011 – Apr. 2012)

  • Led the development of an operational dashboard to provide near real-time information on investigation operations to CID leadership
  • Collaborated with a forensic accounting team and special agents to document technical requirements in order to ensure proper data handling procedures were implemented to support later legal action relating to the investigation

FEMA, Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO), Open Government Data Quality Assessment (Nov. 2010 – Sept. 2011)

  • Led the development of FEMA’s Open Government Data Quality assessment program in order to improve the quality of data reported to USASpending.gov
  • Worked with FEMA stakeholders including financial and system analysts to gather requirements and develop an approach and standardized process to regularly measure and assess the quality of FEMA’s data reporting to USASpending.gov
  • Led a team responsible for the development of an automated reconciliation system to analyze FEMA’s data submissions and isolate reporting issues
